PPL Electric Utilities has disclosed a data breach.
It's tied to the 2023 breach involving MOVEit, a type of file transfer software. Hackers were able to steal files from companies and agencies around the world, including the U.S. Department of Energy.
A Russian ransomware group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
According to PPL, the data exposed did not include banking or credit card information, social security numbers or account passwords. It did not extend beyond basic information such as name, address, phone number, email address and utility account number.
