Presidential Policies

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

In recent weeks, policy has become a concern for both political parties. Some concerns raised questioned the candidates’ plans for the future of the country: either being too vague or too extreme.

Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, has proposed many ideas, yet critics say she has no real policy ideas.

In the presidential debate and campaign speeches, Harris has stated that she wants to give tax cuts to middle-class families, financial assistance for childcare and small businesses, and financial assistance for first-time homeowners.

Harris also wants to lower the cost of healthcare and wants to protect reproductive freedoms.  How will Harris implement this plan? She has not elaborated.

Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, has a different plan.

Trump has Agenda 47 posted on his campaign website but critics are concerned about his possible connection to Project 2025.

Trump wants to “cut federal funding for any school pushing critical race theory, radical gender ideology, and other inappropriate racial, sexual, or political content on our children.” This shows a similarity with project 2025 which wants to get rid of LGBTQ+ in schools.Trump also wants to seal the border, deport illegal immigrants, cancel electric vehicle mandates, make America the dominant energy producer, and keep men out of women’s sports.

So, what does this have to do with Project 2025?   The Heritage Foundation, which is comprised of over 100 conservative organizations, proposed the plan in April of 2023. It is a 922-page document that details a clear plan for the incoming president of  2025– whoever that may be.

Project 2025 includes getting rid of Medicare, Medicaid, and the Department of Education. It also includes getting rid of reproductive rights and ignoring any exception of abortion, like rape, incest, or the mother’s health.

No matter the outcome of this election, both sides have two very different views on how the country should be run. If you need more information for voting go to Vote.gov, or if you want to learn more about each campaign, you can visit kamalaharris.com and donaldjtrump.com.
