Fraudulent mail-in ballot applications were found in Monroe County

MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Officials have announced that they have identified 16 fraudulent mail-in ballot request applications.

According to the Office of the District Attorney, there is an ongoing investigation into the authenticity of the Voter Registration and mail-in Ballot Request Applications.

Mike Mancuso District Attorney states to date 27 documents were referred to the District Attorney's Office by the Board of Elections.

Of those 27, 21 of them were mailed to Monroe County by Fieldcorps operating in Lancaster County, and out of those 21,16 of those submitted applications were fraudulent, D.A. Mancuso continues.

The release states the fraudulent applications involved forged signatures, often with incorrect or incomplete identifying information. Half of the fraudulent applications are connected to individuals employed by Fieldcorps, whose names are listed on the fraudulent forms as “assisting,” continued in the release.

Officials say concerning the six non-Fieldcorps applications, two are mail-in ballots that were stolen with perpetrators unsuccessfully attempting to cast the ballots.

The other three remain under investigation, officials note.
